Based on our family farm in North Shropshire, the business is run by Stephen Jones along with his father Edward and we have worked together to establish quinoa as a British grown crop. Farming has been in our family for several generations and has traditionally grown combinable crops, so quinoa is a great addition to our rotation.
Stephen initially developed the idea of The British Quinoa Company. He has studied agriculture at BSc and MSc level at Harper Adams University, and has recently completed a PhD in crop pathology from The University of Nottingham. He is passionate about developing new British grown crops and believes that locally produced food is one of the best ways to reduce our individual impact on the environment.
Edward runs the farm day to day and has vast experience in crop production. He has been key in developing the best practice of quinoa production in the UK and has done so with the environment in mind, being passionate about increasing biodiversity on our farm.
Pippa joined the business in January 2016. She manages our office helping to ensure that everything runs smoothly. She has brought a wealth of experience to the role having successfully managed offices in much larger companies. Fortunately Pippa is a big healthy eating advocate, so she is great at dishing out advice to our customers!
Joe joined our team back in late 2015, to help manage the ever expanding area of quinoa we grow each year. He can often be found overseeing our field trials or on the road keeping in touch with our customer base. Joe’s in the ideal position to handle this role, being a quinoa grower himself on his family’s farm back in Nottinghamshire.
Caroline is one of our close family friends, has worked tirelessly to help us develop our product and to deliver great customer service. She has many years of experience working for multinational utilities suppliers, but recently she has been working with us to ensure that our customer’s high expectations are met.
