What a week!

Excitingly, I was fortunate enough to be selected as a recipient of the Top New Talent awards from The Grocer Magazine, which was set up to celebrate aspiring young people who operate within the FMCG sector. The 36 strong selection was invited to attend an awards evening at the Royal Society of the Arts in London, where I got to meet many of the other award winners who have either set up their own businesses (Pip Murray founder of Pip & Nut; and Ed Williams founder of Candy Kittens) or have helped to develop significant change and growth within the business they work for (Nish Fatania from Higgidy). I was really impressed with many of their achievements and for those who started their own business I could recognise the likenesses between their journey and my own.

The Grocer kindly described the work that my family and I have undertaken to pioneer British grown quinoa on our farm as “exceptionally innovative, entrepreneurial and determined” and a “model example of how to diversify UK farming into a successful and sustainable business” …. which I think is pretty kind of them! We’re certainly hoping to keep up the momentum in 2017 with new product launches scheduled for the New Year.
